The beautiful juxtaposition of flower petals takes us on a trip down memory lane and into a dreamlike wonderland. Here, the natural countenance of plants is restored and a symphony of flowers and leaves reawakens beautiful, eternal memories from the past.
Light is the main media for a space performer, and via exploring the space, the space also allow the light to surface.
Thinking of Teresa Teng, she shined like twinkling sparkles in the sky. When we think about Teresa, we could only remember her appearance and music. Pick up a rose, Teresa's favorite, let it transform into dancing petals that bring back memories of her unforgettable face. Then, as time stops, colorful dancing petals start to fall through the air and land in layers.
Celebrity’s House is one of the 14 main pavilions in the exposition. It features the world-renowned late Taiwanese singer – Teresa Teng, whose songs have great influence on mainland China, Hong Kong, Japan, and South East Asia during the eighties. The house exhibits her personal belongings, trophies, letters, diaries, apparel, and collections. Moreover, xXtralab Design has designed digital installations to co-cherish the memory of Teresa Teng, including: Teresa Teng Interactive Wall, Fallen Petals, and Cover Story.
Teresa Teng Interactive Wall is a 200” touch screen with enriched visual design. By touching the screen, four different periods of Teresa Teng’s story, and career developments (in Hong Kong, Eastern South Asia, Japan, and globally) are be evoked in the form of motion graphics. Her most popular songs in five different language versions: Mandarin, Taiwanese, Cantonese, Japanese and English play concomitantly and in ambience with the intention of both recalling and catalyzing the people’s memory of her.
Fallen Petals is an interactive art that allows visitors to use free-hand to evoke virtual digital roses and grasp and throw them in the air or turn them to “fly” and swirl on the wall; after which, the rose petals fall poetically while gradually turning into tiny pixels moving slightly to form an image of Teresa Teng in the background. This work is collaboration with Prof. Ni Tsai-Chin, a renowned artist in Taiwan.
Cover Story is a photo booth installation that enables visitors to feature as a celebrity in magazine’s cover story. By simply by clicking a button on a screen, a photo of the visitor is taken and stored in a database server which will then be composed into a magazine cover and displayed on the official website of Celebrity’s House. Visitors are encouraged to link to the website to find their composed magazine cover, download it or e-mail to friends which also serves as advertising for Celebrity’s House.
